Vikings trade Rosenfels? Should they have traded Jackson?

Sage Rosenfels got traded to the Giants, leaving the Vikings with Favre, Tarvaris Jackson and Webb at quarterback. Is T Jack even a competent backup if Favre gets injured? Why did they do that?
