Limewire - whats the chance theyll track you down for illegal download?
As I work in the music industry for a large record label,I can answer your question.Firstly, ignore some of the answers as the majority of them don't know what their talking about...before I proceed I need to advise you Limewire is full of viruses, and your computer is at high risk of being infected,if not already.Secondly,it is illegal to download any song whether it is licensed or not, unless you have paid for the download of which a certain percentage is paid by the site owner to the label. The label I am employed by has already issued 3 warnings to people in the USA,and another 2 in the Far East have been sued. The outcome is that they were both ordered to pay $10000 as a warning to others. This figure will rise each year as more people are taken to court,so my advice would be not to continue free downloads.Limewire is a music file sharing site which is no longer legal, and at the moment it is difficult for the labels to catch the perpetrators, but a device is being worked on to stop illegal downloading, and it will be brought into action within the next 6 months.
